PLAY: The Jets – You Got It All

the_jets_you_got_it_all_1985_the80smanI swear there are just some songs that I never get sick of. If they turn up on my playlists, maybe too often, I still don’t skip over them. They possess that little “something-something” that really speaks to me and it’s like I wish I had been the music producer of the track myself. This is one of those such songs.

Written by Rupert Holmes (that’s right, “The Pina Colada Song” Rupert Holmes!) and recorded and released by The Jets in ’85, “You Got It All” has it all as far as I’m concerned. A rich melody, finely furnished with a light blanket of synth, complimented by some sweet saxophone accents, driven by a steady drum programing. Supreme set of vocals on this one, and I’ve always really dug the melody change in that bridge verse; “Put all your fears to rest, who do I love the best”.. that’s a great little hook.

This is one of those songs I 100% forgot existed. Major flashback.
