Steve Winwood – The Finer Things (Dance Mix)

Steve Winwood is what you would consider a classic artist. His musical contributions to rock and roll date back to the 60′s.

I’ve always been partial to the tunes that Steve put out in the 80′s. He really had a string of them going there, and was certainly at his pop peak. The album Back In The High Life I clearly remember being a constantly featured title at the top of various display counters in the music stores I’d hit through the late 80′s/early 90′s.

One of the prime selections from that album is the track “The Finer Things”.

A 12″ dance mix of this track managed to make it’s way to the top of my list of “I’ve looked everywhere for this single!” Sometimes you just can’t track these things down, and I remember looking for it for years.

In my days of record swapping and vendor dealing, I did manage to strike up a friendship with a fellow vendor who happened to have a tape-dub of the track I was looking for. And I was thankfully pleased to make a copy of that!! After all, it seemed like the best I could come up with. And has been to date.

It’s that same tape-dub mix that I’m sharing with you here. Not the greatest of quality by comparison to my other posts, but certainly listenable. Especially considering this is such a rare gem!

If any of my fellow 80′s kids have access to a better quality file of this mix, I would love for you to pass it along to me :)

If you enjoyed this post, I’d love if you’d share it on Twitter or StumbleUpon. Thanks so much, you are all awesome!
