New Wave Weekend!!
General Public – Tenderness (Dance Mix)
Typical 80′s kids may associate this tune with Weird Science.. 90′s kids it’s Clueless.. for this particular pop kid, it’s just another example of one of the awesome hits to come out of the particular year of 1984.
Undoubtedly, “Tenderness” is General Public’s most widely known song. Released as single, the tune would crack the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 and next to “Never You Done That” be the biggest hits from the All The Rage LP.
The 12″ single would feature a fantastic “dance mix” that adds a bit more beat to the equation in addition to some more lyrics and instrumentation. In fact we could say this version is a little more “ska” ala English Beat.

I open my mouth and out pops something spiteful
Words are so cheap but they can turn out expensive
Words like conviction can turn into a sentence”

You got me dancing. I love New Wave Weekend!
I have always loved this song. I was so suprised to hear this song used in clueless. I’m glad that it was used because that movie reminded me of an 80′s movie anyway. I danced a little bit to this song in the 80′s due the movie Weird Science and it was great to dance to it again in the 90′s due to the movie Clueless……Darn where did time go??
