Smooth Groove Alert!!

PLAY: Foreigner – I Don’t Want To Live Without You

A great track from the later years of classic rockers Foreigner.

foreigner_I_don't_want_to_live_without_you_1987_the80smanI think by this point it was safe to say these guys knew where the commercial side of success was at..  in that of the pop power ballad. Scoring the previous hits of “Waiting For A Girl Like You” and “I Want To Know What Love Is”, they once again took to the softer side of things in ’87 with this track. “I Don’t Want To Live Without You” is a beautiful ballad, soft and moody lyrics, with those delicate keyboards as it’s canvas. This one was a modest success on the pop charts as well as the Adult Contemporary, which amazingly still appears every now and again today on AC radio stations, at least in my neck of the woods.

Still it doesn’t get enough plays in my opinion so i share it with you today.

A great song to be sure, but it was definitely more than just a modest success It went to #5 on the Pop Chart and #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Love the single cover of this one. Kind of playing on the “I” and “Eye” thing.

I always enjoyed this smooth groove. Nice simple lyrics and beautiful melody. I read somewhere that lead singer Lou Gramm was not a huge fan of the softer side the band was taking and would eventually leave for a solo career.
