Belinda Carlisle – Mad About You (Extended Remix Version)

This song always seems to remind me of an episode of “Growing Pains”… it was the beginning of an episode and Carol Seaver was having a slumber party with a bunch of other girls, all in their jammies and they’re dancing in the living room to this song… meanwhile Mike Seaver is outside the window gawking at all of them!

Belinda was Go-Go-ing solo in ’86 and was leaning towards an even more polished pop sound to which she successfully achieved with this hit off her first solo album.

Little known fact, Andy Taylor (guitarist for Duran Duran) was also flying solo and ’86 and I’m assuming that because he and Belinda were sharing the same record label at the time of this release, it had something to do with the fact that it is he who is playing lead and solo guitar on this track.

This is the rare “extended remix” of the track. It’s a bit bizarre at times, but once it goes into one of those little instrumental breaks I’m always sold. Hope everyone enjoys. Please pass it along…

Interesting side note on this… it’s been written that this was a planned song selection for the Go-Go’s shelved album for that year. So much so that two of the Go-Go’s are singing backup. When they decided to call it quits, the record label quickly saved this track with intent for it to launch Belinda’s solo career. That which is successfully did.

Love it! Didn’t know about Andy Taylor, that’s cool.
